The State And Trends Of Mobile Internet [Infographic]

Web Hosting Buzz presents: The State And Trends Of Mobile Internet.

A look at the current state of affairs in mobile halfway through 2012

76% of the global population currently use mobile devices.

90% of the globe has mobile network coverage.

North America leads the way in smart phones with nearly 40% penetration followed closely by Western Europe.

Men and women spend roughly the same amount of time online but men spend much more time on smart phones than women.

Games, weather, maps, social networking, and music are the top five smart phone activities respectively.

Android growth of 600%+ blows the competition away… competition that all experienced healthy growth rates but less that 100% in the past year.

Android tends to skew male while Blackberry tends to skew female. Apple and Nokia’s markets are equally male and female.

50% of all mobile pageviews were to social networking sites.

25% of apps downloaded never used.

2/3 of mobile search come from Apple iOS devices.

Desktop represented 72% of web activity in 2010. That number is projected to be less than 50% by 2015.

Conversely, mobile represented 28% of web activity in 2010 and is projected to represent 52% by 2015.

Clearly the state and trends of mobile internet are pointing to an eventual “death” of the PC as we now know it.

Watcha waiting for?
